 Свободные радикалы
  Частицы с неспаренными электронами на внешних атомных или молекулярных орбиталях. Парамагнитны и реакционноспособны. Вступают в различные химические реакции. Могут быть стабильными, или долгоживущими и нестабильными, или короткоживущими. Образуются из молекул под действием электромагнитного излучения, потока частиц высоких энергий, при нагревании, в ходе окислительно-восстановительных реакций. Свободные радикалы могут повреждать молекулярные механизмы биологических систем, что ведет к образованию поперечных сшивок и мутациям.
